Author Biography: Selim Aga

Selim Aga was born around 1826 in the Taqali area of Sudan. Aga was the eldest of the boys and him and his family practiced faming and sheepherding. Since Aga was the oldest boy in his family he was prepared by his father to own his own farmland. At 8 years old, while herding the livestock Aga was abducted along with other natives from his country by slave traders. Aga said that during the time he was being taken that he resisted and because he was resistant he was beaten with a green twig until he bled.
